Link Romania is delighted to have teamed up with Kumon Educational UK. As part of their corporate social responsibility programme, leading education provider Kumon will be encouraging their large student base to get behind the 2009 Family Shoebox Appeal to help disadvantaged people in some of the poorest parts of Eastern Europe www.kumon.co.uk
Students from over 600 Kumon study centres across the UK and Ireland will be encouraged to donate a shoe box filled with items that will be sent to needy families and children in Romania, Moldova and Albania whose lives are blighted by poverty and poor living conditions.
Kumon Educational is one of the UK’s leading after-school education providers, offering maths and English programmes for children of all ages and abilities. Kumon provides children with the opportunity to learn and aims to give them the best chance in life, by offering a study programme that is tailored to the needs of each child. Through daily study and repetition, students build their confidence, improve their concentration and gain effective study skills that will enhance their future learning.
Kumon programmes also equip children with life skills, fostering sound, capable individuals with an ability to think for themselves and the capacity to care for others. Through perseverance and determination, children can develop an attitude to learning that enables them to overcome obstacles and succeed.
As an educational provider, Kumon are passionate about children’s learning and development, and are keen to support Link Romania’s continuing work with schools and kindergartens that suffer from a lack of resources and are heavily reliant on charitable donations. By working together with Link Romania, Kumon wish to continue to make education accessible to as many children as possible.
Jessica Abram, Deputy General Manager, comments, “Kumon is delighted to be able to join forces with Link Romania for such a worthy cause and I know our students will seize the opportunity to help those less fortunate than themselves. The welfare of children is an issue very dear to our hearts and we look forward to our students being able to make a real difference to other children through this collaboration.”
