Floods in Albania - Funds needed to send aid truck

Days of continuous rain are causing floods in Northern Albania. Floods hit much of the north of the country, and particularly Shkoder district (120 km northwest of Tirana), displacing around 5,000 persons. According to authorities, no casualties resulted from the flood which is fortunate but many people are homeless and have lost everything.

Over 10,000 hectares of farmland have been flooded. Displaced communities are facing lack of drinking water. European countries are sending aid such as food, medicine and helicopters to the flooded areas. This constitutes the worst flood in 50 years in Albania.

Link Romania has projects in this area and are planning to send a truck with aid out there.  The cost of the truck is £1,500.  If anyone can help us with the costs we would be very grateful.  Either donate on line or send us a cheque.  Gift Aid it if you can.
